Good-bye
If I should go
Before I get to say good-bye
I leave you with this poem
I hope it soothes you like a lullaby.
When my time comes and I am gone
Winter will come and cover everything with snow,
I’ll fly South with the swallows
And in my absence your sadness will grow.
But like the morning sun
Darkness must come to an end,
And the warmth on your skin
Will feel like a comforting friend.
The days will get longer
Spring-time will blossom from each and every tree,
The warm wind will play with your hair
You will see beauty in everything and think of me.
Summer will be brought by April showers
Falling raindrops like tears from your eye,
In the wind I will whisper to you;
‘I am all the colours of the evening sky.’
So when the leaves turn golden
All your sadness you will have outgrown,
Walking through the trees
You will know you’re not alone.
So when Winter comes again
And snow covers the ground as far as you can see,
Happiness will come to you from within
And you won’t need to think of me.
